Campaign to Protect Rural England - Somerset

Best Village Shop Award

Spaxton Community Stores . - winner of Somerset Best Village Shop Award 2018 Spaxton Community Stores . - winner of Somerset Best Village Shop Award 2018

 And the winner is.......

Spaxton Community Stores!

Many congratulations to everyone who worked so hard to get the funding in place to create this fantastic litle shop and who helps to keep it open and thriving.  The team of over 40 volunteers works hard to support the one part-time member of staff who organises the rota and makes sure everyone is organised and trained - even in the complex task of running the Post Office counter. They try their best to stock items requested by their customers and have a fantastically full community noticeboard. Spaxton Community Stores hugely impressed the judges with their range of local produce, community spirit and friendly volunteers. They make a conscious effort to keep their prices low but still make a good profit – which is ploughed back into the shop and available for grants to local community projects.  Well done Spaxton Community Stores! They received a £100 prize and a commemorative plate at the awards evening in October.

Also many congratulations to the runner up, Kingsbury Community Stores, and the other finalist, Keinton Stores.
